Life Update

When I was in high school, back during the dawn of the internet, I maintained a blog. It was, without question, absolutely trash. I posted nothing of importance or value, but I loved it. A little way to share my thoughts with the world.
In hindsight, it was an excellent outlet for my ADHA, and a way to cleanse myself of the things inside of my head. Over the years, I have tried again and again to start another blog, only to lose interest. With this site, and the need to share updates on my book (and maybe books), I have something that can be multipurpose.
That's a long winded way of saying that I will also use this to share updates that are unrelated to books. Err-- rather, not related to books I wrote. Will likely share about other books.
Choke Update:
Last week, I worked to submit the final version of Choke to a print company. I want to get my hands on some physical copies ahead of releasing the book for sale on Amazon. That has been a fucking mission, let me tell you. Anyone with ADHD will understand this. The print company provided a detailed explanation of how one goes about creating cover art. I skimmed it, created a cover, and submitted it. Six revisions later, I actually read the guide. I was doing it wrong. I think I have it right... maybe. I'm waiting for them to email me and confirm.
I know Choke isn't perfect. I know there are lingering errors, but I cannot continue to review and rewrite. Every time I go back to change grammar errors, I end up changing entire chapters. I don't think the book will ever be perfect. If I keep doing this, it'll never release, and I'll grow bored and move on to a new fixation. I wrote this for myself and for you guys. I know you won't come at me for a couple of errors. I hope you'll also recognize this is my first attempt at writing. At REALLY writing. If you're looking for the next Quicksilver, Fourth Wing, or whatever #1 Best Seller is out there, read something else LOL.
Choke will be available on Kindle Unlimited at the time of release because I want people to be able to read it without spending hard-earned money on it. Once able, it will also be on KOBO and whatever other options are available. Are there other options? Kindle requires a period of exclusivity... so, sorry about the delay on KOBO. If you're a KOBO reader and want immediate access, I will find a way to get you a copy. I can share an ePUB version that will open in Apple Books. Android users, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it's 2025. Get an iPhone. Kidding - mostly.
Last night, I started working on Book II. When I began Choke, the plan was to have one story. When I wrote one chapter, I realized it was the end of book one. I knew in an instant that it would be at least a two-part series. Even having written just the prologue to book two, I am confident it'll be at least three parts with spin-off stories about some of the characters. Rosie is such a badass and definitely deserves her own POV. Choke is set in my version of Toronto, and I know I want to visit the Trent Hills area. I want to write about my town and the friends I've made here.
One thing I realized: I had intended to include a list of products that are referenced in the book, and I forgot. I will add a page to this website with links to the products I mention. None of these will be affiliate links - I will not make a dime from them and if mentioned, it's because I actually like them. LOL
Last but not least, I will be randomly selecting 25 people to give a copy of Choke. This will be a physical copy. My only ask will be to share about it if you feel inclined. If you don't want to, that's ok too. Use the updates sign-up on the home page of my site, and I will be randomly selecting from there.
Oh, wait. For real. Last thing. Next month I will be heading to ApollyCon to hang out with our favourite, Ms. Callie Hart. I can't wait to take endless photos and share about it with you guys.
Cheers,
Meg
